KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's soon-to-be tallest building - The Exchange 106 - is on its way to completion as its reinforced concrete core wall is now in place.

Rising out from the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), the new International Financial District in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, the superstructure is one step closer to cementing itself as the next iconic monument in the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

The top of the structure, as it now stands, is already at 450 metres above ground, which is close to surpassing the Petronas Twin Towers.

The structure will be topped with a dazzling glass crown that will be LED illuminated.

The super tall Exchange 106 is owned and developed by Mulia Property Development Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the renowned Mulia Group of Indonesia.

The project, which boasts close to three million sq ft lettable area, is the group's maiden project in Malaysia.

The Exchange 106's construction is on track to be completed by the second quarter of 2018, with tenants expected to move in by the third quarter of 2018.

"As the owner of the building, it is in our own interest to protect our investment and enhance it.

"This is part of our philosophy of ‘doing it right, first time' so that with zero defects there is no interruption for rectification”, said Roland Suckling, Mulia's project director.

Upon completion in 2018, the Exchange 106 will consist of 106 floors and 8 basement levels.

Standing at 492.3 metres, it will be the tallest building in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, and will be among the top 15 tallest in the world.

With Green Building Index (GBI) certification and MSC status, The Exchange 106 offers some of the latest in-building technology including high performance insulated glass, energy efficient MEP systems with Star rating, 100 per cent LED lighting and state-of-the-art lift technologies.

The Exchange 106 will also feature high ceilings finished in English Burl wood, marble floors and walls of the highest quality in the lobbies and common areas, and large column-free office floor plates of up to 34,000 sq ft with long spans, designed for flexible layouts and open plan interior configurations.

Its 15-metre tall entrance lobby provides a main drop-off access and concierge reception to rival the best 5-star hotels in the region.

The Mulia Group has already secured leases of substantial spaces.
