Sandakan Historical Buildings to Be Given a Facelift

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment is investing RM200,000 to improve the appearance of historical buildings in the district to attract visitors.

According to Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin, this concept of this project will be following the current trend where people take photos of the places they visit and upload them on social media.

During his inspection of the site, Jafry said,

“Apart from attracting domestic and foreign visitors, creative art that will be displayed is an appreciation of local talents.”

He added that the Laluan Kreatif, a pathway with the concept of reminiscence, is anticipated to be Sandakan’s next tourist attraction as this pathway will bring back memories of the old Sandakan market, which was once the district's most important trade development.

“Mural painting is also another plan that will be implemented in the same route,” he said.
