A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 21 August 2017 between mm2 Screen Management Sdn Bhd, the owners of mmCineplexes and Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd, the developer of ITCC-Penampang.

This represents the commitment to open the first mmCineplexes in East Malaysia at ITCC Shopping Mall. mm2 Screen Management Sdn Bhd was represented by their Director of Marketing and Business Development, Mr Jason Teo, while Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd was represented by Group General Manager, Mr Ceasar Mandela Malakun.

mmCineplexes at ITCC Shopping Mall shall be its first venture into the East Malaysian market with eight state of the art cinema halls screening international and Asian films said Mr Jason Teo. In a statement by Mr Ceasar Mandela, he expressed that ITCC Shopping Mall's owners and management are very happy and excited about this venture with mmCineplexes.

We love their philosophy of providing the best for the patrons and their energetic and vivacious approach to the cinema business. We are also proud of the fact that ITCC Shopping Mall is the first location in East Malaysia to carry the mmCineplexes brand" said Mr Caesar.

ITCC Shopping Mall has just received its Occupation Certificate and is scheduled to have its soft opening on 25 August 2017. Bringing in a family friendly, lifestyle mall into KK's closest neighboring district, ITCC Shopping Mall is poised to become the new landmark in Penampang with Bataras Hypermarket, a large-scale children's amusement center, North Borneo Handicraft and Cultural Centre, IT and gadgets departmental store and now mmCineplexes.
