KK Resort City Ground-Breaking Ceremony, Marks the Commencement of a New World-Class Tourism Destination

1. Ground-breaking ceremony of KK Resort City Officiated by Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie Apdal. 2. The first of its kind in East Malaysia, KK Resort City will be large-scale fully-integrated tourism, business and residential living township, aimed at capitalising on the vibrant tourism industry in Sabah. 3. Development projects like KK Resort City are always welcome as it can elevate the economy, provide the market with funds and create hundreds of job opportunities in Sabah.

Sabah can now officially anticipate the start of our very own resort city construction, KK Resort City, situated on an island in Lok Kawi by Sunduvon Corporation Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of KTS Group. The ground-breaking ceremony was successfully officiated earlier this morning (2 May 2019) by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The ceremony was also attended by Datuk Christina Liew (Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment), Mr Lau Swee Nguong (Chairman of K.T.S. Holdings), Dato Henry Lau Lee Kong (Managing Director of Sunduvon Corporation Sdn Bhd), Hiew Vun Zin (Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing), Puan Jenifer Lasimbang (Assistant Minister of Education and Innovation) and Datuk Haji Uda Bin Sulai (Assistant Minister of Law and Native Affairs).

The Managing Director of Sunduvon Corporation Sdn Bhd, Dato Henry Lau, said in his welcoming speech, "The first of its kind in East Malaysia, KK Resort City will be large-scale fully-integrated tourism, business and residential living township, aimed at capitalising on the vibrant tourism industry in Sabah."

Highlighting his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sabah for his support, Henry also expressed that KTS Group is confident of Sabah's favourable investment and business environment under the Chief Minister's leadership. "KK Resort City is a significant show of the group's commitment to our investment in Sabah," Henry added.

In his speech, Shafie said that he is impressed that the developer and investor of this KK Resort City project is none other than a company that originates from Sarawak, our neighbouring state. He said that developments projects like this are always welcome as it can elevate the economy, provide the market with funds and create hundreds of job opportunities in Sabah.

Shafie commented that the fruits we enjoy in today's tourism boom are the result of hard work and sweat of our people. The state is constantly pushing for the development of world-class facilities and preservation of natural attractions, as well as increasing connectivity to Sabah.

He congratulates the KTS Group and its subsidiary Sunduvon Corporation Sdn Bhd and Murni Mahsyur Sdn Bhd for undertaking the project. "I am very confident this development will be a resounding success and the government will play its part."
