Brunei-China Belt and Road Association Formed

In an effort to promote bilateral trade and investments between Brunei Darussalam and China under the 'One Belt One Road' initiative, the Brunei-China Belt and Road Association has been established and successfully registered with the Registrar of Societies.

The non-governmental organisation will assist the two countries in their cooperation in the fields of investment, economy, trade, culture, education and tourism.

Twenty-nine office bearers have been appointed as per the list announced on Thursday.

Jackson Ting Jack Hing is the President and he will be assisted by two Deputy Presidents, Lim Han Chiong and Zhang Qingrui. Vice Presidents are Lau Shiew Yuen, Tan Kah Boon, Cheing Ing, Nang Lau How Teck, Lim Sooi Toing, Li Qi, Lau Kah Huon and Liu Mingjun.

The post of Secretary General went to Sim Chong Siang with two assistants namely Pang Yan How as Deputy Secretary General and On Ohui Li as Deputy Secretary General (Malay/English).

Ang Kian Guan has been appointed as Treasurer while Deputy Treasurer is Khoo Eng Cheong. Compliance Director is Lee Yew Choh with Chieng Ing Lee as his deputy.

Dato Lai Heng Wai is appointed as Internal Auditor with Yang Chow Min as the Deputy Internal Auditor. The Investment Advisor and Counsellor is Li Ju with Dr Yong Chee Tuan as his deputy.

Chang Shan holds the position of Travel and Cultural Director with Lau Chai Seng as his deputy. Lee Ah Ing is appointed as International Affairs Director while Chan Xiang Yang the Deputy Director of International Affairs.

The council members comprised of Liow Chin Loon, Yu Chii Won and Le Ruimei.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held soon to allow for full operation of the association.
