Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has clarified that only the power to the air-conditioning system at 1Borneo Hypermall has been stopped while the lights, escalators and lifts are still functioning as normal.
SESB General Manager Corporate Communications, Puan Chendramata Hj Sinteh said this action took into account the patrons of the shopping mall.
She said the 448 renters affected are customers registered with the company 1BMC which is an Independent Power Distributor (IPD).
Meanwhile, 934 customers who are registered directly with SESB still have power supply; they consist of condominium residents, USIA Building, hotels and the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Women's Hostel.
SESB took the action to cut power to the hypermall's air-conditioning system following the 1BMC's failure to settle any payments towards the outstanding RM8.7 million arrears within the agreed time.
