Sabah to Hold Free Digital Economy Seminar

The State Government through the Industrial Development Ministry will host a seminar entitled 'Championing Sabah's Digital Economy' on March 7 at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa.

It is organised in collaboration with the Resources and Information Technology Development Ministry, Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC), Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), State Computer Services Department (JPKN), KKIP sdn Bhd, Sbah Net Sdn Bhd, Sabah Computer Association (SCS) and the Sabah E-Commerce Association (SEA).

The seminar will be officiated by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.

Its main objective is to disseminate information on government initiatives in digital economic development and to encourage entrepreneurs in Sabah to engage in the marketing of products and services through e-commerce.

The digital economy now covers all aspects of community life including the way people interact, the economic landscape and the skills needed to get a good job. With the emerging digital technology, opportunities abound as businesses expand globally.

This seminar aims to create awareness for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sabah to remain competitive and successful in the ever increasingly challenging business environment.

Seven information sharing sessions will be presented by highly knowledgeable and experienced people in the e-commerce business. Some of the sharing will touch on 'e-Commerce Opportunities and Digital Free Trade Zones (DFTZ)', 'Tour Buddy Program', 'Are Your Products Export Ready', 'Shipping Your Products as Easy as 1-2-3', and 'Digital Logistic Transformation in East Malaysia'.

During the seminar, the launching of an e-commerce platform 'Borneo Kaki' will also be held.

Participation of this seminar is free and registration can be made online HERE. The deadline for registration is 28 February and is based on a first come first serve basis. There will also be a lucky draw during the seminar.
