Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resort to Be Developed in Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

The under-construction Crowne Plaza hotel in Kota Kinabalu is set to open in 2022 and will be a key component of an interesting mixed-use waterfront development. This new hotel in Sabah, Borneo, features a rooftop bar and restaurant, an outdoor pool, and waterfront views, making it an enticing alternative for both business and leisure travellers.

Kota Kinabalu’s phenomenal site

The Crowne Plaza Kota Kinabalu Waterfront will welcome guests amid the city's dynamic waterfront area's high-end homes and dining scene when it launches. This site, which overlooks a prominent promenade, offers spectacular sunset views, which guests can enjoy from a variety of onsite settings.

The rooftop drinking and dining space, which will be the first of its type in Kota Kinabalu, as well as the outdoor pool, spa, and 24-hour fitness centre, are likely to attract visitors. Business travellers will be provided with eight flexible conference spaces, including a ballroom that can accommodate up to 600 people.

A hallmark in Sabah

The 367-key newbuild hotel is being developed by IHG in collaboration with Golden Wave Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia-listed Ho Hup Construction Company Berhad. Ho Hup, Tribeca Real Estate Asset Management, and local stockholders are operating the joint-venture entity. Meanwhile, the property's architectural design is being worked on by Hasegawa & Xavier Associates and DP Architects.

In terms of both business and tourism, Kota Kinabalu has experienced substantial growth in recent years. The hotel will be able to take advantage of Sabah's natural beauty while also providing easy access to local amenities and tourist attractions thanks to its prominent location.
