Roofs of 32 Houses Blown Away in Sandakan

The roofs of 32 houses were blown away by strong winds besides damage to several structures at Kg Forest at 3pm on Thursday.


A housewife, Alein Binti Bari, 33, who was one of the more than 100 victims, received five stitches at the Duchess of Kent Sandakan Hospital after she sustained injuries on her left head.



She told the reporters that during the incident, she and her seven children aged between two and 15 were at home when the window of the house shattered and injured her head. 

Alein said she was grateful that her children were unharmed.



One of the houses occupied by 12 people was also affected by the strong wind and they said this was the first incident of such nature apart from the high tide phenomenon that happened few years back. 

Community Development Leader (PPM) for Elopura, Jason Pang together Mukim Developer for the area visited the affected villagers.



Fire and Rescue Station head here, Jimmy Lagung said they received a distress call at 4.35pm on Thursday.
