Over RM500K Invested to Upgrade New DHL Express Facility

To better support business in Sabah, DHL Express has invested over €100,000 (RM530,000) to upgrade its gateway facility in Kota Kinabalu.

The upgraded facility will serve as the main channel for import and export shipments to and from East Malaysia. The service center will continue to be operated by the same agent while the gateway will now be fully managed by DHL Express.

DHL Express will be the only international express shipping company with a direct presence in Sabah.

Julian Neo, Managing Director of DHL Express Malaysia & Brunei said, "We made the decision to take full control of the management of the gateway after considered evaluation of the business prospects in the region. We are convinced that this will better align our operations in Sabah with global trends as we strive to continually enhance our value proposition and customer portfolio."

Recently, the state government announced its goal to increase the number of companies exporting goods from Sabah, and to attract more foreign investors to East Malaysia. With the belief that a robust logistics ecosystem is essential to facilitate the growth of international trade, DHL Express has heavily invested to upgrade the gateway with new equipment to help customers expand their businesses globally.

The key sectors that DHL Express serves include e-commerce enterprises that have great potential to grow their business overseas.

"The facility is designed with the aim of delivering top-notch productivity and operational efficiency to benefit our customers with improved speed, reliability and flexibility. This in turn, will enable Sabah importers and exporters to trade in the global marketplace more effectively than ever before," he added.

The Kota Kinabalu gateway provides direct access to DHL Express' network of more than 220 countries and territories globally.
