MIEA Sabah Invites Registration to Certificate in Estate Agency Course, to Be Conducted in Kota Kinabalu

The Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) Sabah branch is inviting interested parties to sign up and get certified as an estate agent as it prepares to conduct its first-ever Certificate in Estate Agency course in Kota Kinabalu, in partnership with the National Institute of Valuation or INSPEN.

At a preview of the course held at the MIEA Sabah training centre at Lintas Square, MIEA Sabah Chairman, Victor Wong gave a brief overview of what enrolment into the program means. The objective of this course is to help graduates to gain knowledge and technical expertise in real estate agency practices, apply consultation techniques, conduct sales and marketing effectively, become a professional real estate agent and importantly, to become a registered estate agent.

Victor says this is a unique opportunity for Sabah professionals as this is a course normally conducted only in Kuala Lumpur. "We kept pushing to have this program in Kota Kinabalu and finally they (INSPEN) agreed," said Victor, emphasizing that people need to register their interest fast as there is only a brief window for intakes and it will close mid-December 2018.

The program is an alternative route to be registered as a real estate agent recognized by the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVEAP) and is being offered on a part-time basis. Those interested will need to be aged 17 and above while having a pass grade in SPM. Limited slots are limited with a maximum quota of 40 students being aimed for this intake.

With classes scheduled to commence in January, the course is split into 14 months of study period and another 6 months of industrial training while fees will depend on the student count for the intake. More students will mean lesser fees, which may range from RM16,000 all the way up to RM30,000. "We hope to get more students to lower down the fees for everyone," says Victor.

"I encourage those looking to become a registered estate agent to really consider this approach as it is a great opportunity and is faster than having to sit for this course in KL."

MIEA Sabah is planning to conduct another preview of the course for interested parties and will be opening the program to the public. Details will be announced soon.
