Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), the new heartbeat of Kuala Lumpur is moving closer to its target for its first handover, scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. The project received a special guest today – YB Tuan Hj Khalid Abdul Samad, Minister of Federal Territories.

The Minister was brought up to speed with the current developments at BBCC and had the opportunity to view the entire project site from BBCC's viewing deck at its sales gallery.

Works on the 19.4-acre site has been progressing well and site progress for Phase One has reached 25% to date. Phase One of BBCC will include the retail mall and retail podium, strata office & entertainment hub, two blocks of serviced apartments and the entire infrastructure works including three underground vehicular tunnels.

CEO of BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, Low Thiam Chin said that the team has been working hard to ensure that construction works are on track. “We are happy with the current pace of works and are looking forward to achieving the next milestone for this iconic development,” he said.

A joint-venture project between Eco World Development Group Berhad, UDA Holdings Berhad and Employees Provident Fund Board, BBCC is poised to be the new gateway into the Kuala Lumpur golden triangle and future centre of greater Kuala Lumpur.

Living up to its tagline of “Where Life is Spectacular”, the next excitement at BBCC is the Malaysia Grand Bazaar (MGB). Located within the Entertainment Hub, the MGB aims to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of local arts and heritage crafts to tourists from around the world.

As a significant component of BBCC's Entertainment Hub, MGB offers 100,000 sq ft of customisable and compact retail space designed to showcase a wide yet carefully curated selection of Malaysian artisanal, hand-crafted and tradition-inspired creations as well as authentic local delicacies.

Aimed at providing a dedicated platform for start-up entrepreneurs particularly Bumiputras to showcase their products, the MGB has garnered positive response from local retailers and has managed to attract approximately 40 tenants who have signed up ahead of its opening in 2021.

The heritage-inspired architecture, complemented by seasonal cultural performances, craft demonstrations and interactive arts activity will further serve to make MGB a must-visit tourist attraction for all visitors to Kuala Lumpur upon its completion.

Another attraction of the Entertainment Hub will be the first-of-its-kind Zepp Kuala Lumpur concert hall with a 2,500 pax capacity and boasting state-of-the-art sound, visual and lighting technology from its parent Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

On the retail end, Mitsui Fudosan Asia, in a joint-venture with the shareholders of BBCC has started work to develop the RM1.6 billion Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport KL. The lifestyle mall will attract new-to-market Japanese and Asian brands as well as international retailers with globally-recognised brands to become a top shopping destination in this region.

BBCC is also proud to welcome a new hospitality brand to Malaysia. In October last year, it welcomed Canopy by Hilton, the famed hotelier's youthful, experiential and lifestyle-centric brand to manage a 28-storey hotel tower block which has been successfully sold to a privately owned property investor. This will be the first Canopy by Hilton hotel in Southeast Asia.

Leveraging on the growing demand for co-working spaces, BBCC is also collaborating with Regus, the largest global workplace provider to create a 20,000 sq ft modern and professional workspace within its Strata Office Tower to provide added convenience for new business start-ups and small business owners to set up their base here.
