In a statement today, the Prime Minister's Office said Chen's appointment takes effect on 1st October 2018.

With over three decades of experience in the real estate industry, Chen takes over from Alies Nor Abdul, who resigned on 1st June 2018.

Chen, who was Rehda president from 1998 to 2002, is also the immediate past chairman of Rehda Institute, a non-profit foundation which acts as the training and research arm of the association.

He is also the managing director of MKH Bhd, a Kajang-based developer.

The 1Malaysia People's Housing Scheme or Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) was established in 2012 to plan, develop, construct and maintain high-quality housing with lifestyle concepts for middle-income households in key urban centres.

PR1MA homes come in various types and sizes and priced between RM100,000 to RM400,000.
