Government Will Look Into Expediting OC for Gardens Condo

Some 500 homebuyers of the Gardens @ Bundusan have suffered long over the delay obtaining their Occupation Certificate (OC). On 22 June 2018, it was reported that buyers of the Gardens Bundusan have been told that the Occupational Certificate for the property is estimated to be resolved within 3 months.

It is believed that some of the buyers have emptied their savings to buy the condominium as a home for their children. They have borrowed loans from banks, paid instalments and interest to banks and up till today, they still don't have the green light to move into their units.

Marvelgold Development Sdn Bhd, developer of the Gardens Condominium, claimed that development and construction of the residential project was done in accordance with approved development plans, duly approved by all the relevant local and State authorities, including Lands and Survey Department, JKR, Penampang District Council, Town and Country Planning Department and the Local Government - particularly the housing department and the Housing Controller.

The development was completed in November 2016 with 500 units sold out quickly to hungry buyers. They were promised to get their keys by April 2017, but buyers were left in conundrum due to the dilemma of getting an access road to the property.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, YB Hiew Vun Zin said the Government is highly concerned for the welfare of the 500 buyers and they're committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible.

"The Government will look into expediting the matter but unfortunately, the case is still in court and the legal procedures will take time. We're appealing for the developer to withdraw the court case against the local government and the Housing Ministry will step in to work closely with the developer to find an amicable solution for all parties" he said.
