SICC Featured in Yayasan Sabah Event

The new Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu and the numerous job opportunities arising from its operation was featured in the Yayasan Sabah Bersama Yakyat (YSBR, Yayasan Sabah With the People) event at the Dewan Pa' Musa on Saturday, 24 February.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman will launch the day-long carnival-like event showcasing the expansive programmes, projects and achievements of the venerable state-owned organisation.

THE SICC, one of the mega projects under the Sabah Development Corridor, is owned by Yayasan Sabah and being developed on a joint-venture basis with a Malaysian conglomerate. It is expected to be operational in 2019.

Aside from exhibition booth on SICC, a career exhibition will be part of the Beaufort event. A number of agencies will be exhibiting.

According to a Yayasan Sabah statement yesterday, SICC offers tremendous opportunities towards entrepreneurship in tourism related commercial and business activities and potential job opportunities opening for Front Office Operations/Management, Housekeeping Operations/Management, Food Preparation and Production (Supervisory), Pastry Making (Supervisory, Food & Beverage Operations (Restaurant) and many others.

Yayasan Sabah Group will also collaborate with JobsMalaysia in providing job seekers open interview sessions. Also incorporated in YSBR is the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) creative approach via Mobile Community Transformation Centre (Mobile CTC).

The Mobile CTC programme has brought many benefits to the people through the services provided and provides opportunities for communities to get quick and easy access to services. Mobile CTC is anticipated to bring social transformation to the people.

Among the services offered by Mobile CTC are free dental checks and treatments, free health checks, unclaimed money checks by National Accounts Department, voters' registration, Pos Malaysia, financial license registration, pap smear testing and mammogram subsidies.

In addition to that, there will be 102 booths during the Roadshow which include agencies such as Unit Teraju Bumiputera, Sabah Economic and Investment Authority (SEDIA), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), MARA Sabah, Yayasan Usaha Maju, Sabah Youth and Sports Department, Sabah Youth Council (Gabungan Majlis Belia Sabah), Pusat GIATMARA Limbawang, Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ), Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), Sabah State Health Department (Jabatan Kesihatan Daerah), Amanah Saham Sabah, Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA), Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM), Department of Veterinary Services and Animal Industry, Department of Agriculture Sabah (Jabatan Pertanian Sabah), Sabah Women Small and Medium Industries Association (IKSNita), Community Transformation Centre Mobile (CTC), Asian Supply Base Sdn. Bhd., PetroSabah, Sabah Women's Affairs Department (JHEWA), Petrosabah, KO-Nelayan and Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA).
