Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl Empowers Women and Young Girls Through Entrepreneurship

In a remarkable display of commitment to fostering economic empowerment and skill development among women and young girls, the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl successfully hosted the 2nd PearlEmpower: Grow & Glow Market.


Guest of Honour, YBhg. Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Juliah Salag was present to officiate the market’s launching ceremony.  



Speaking to reporters, Datin Seri Julia lauded the PearlEmpower Grow and Glow Market initiative for offering a valuable starting platform for young female entrepreneurs. She emphasized its role in showcasing their talents, honing their skills, and facilitating their entry into the business world, where they can earn income.



The 2 days event, which took place over the weekend at Wisma Merdeka, showcased the talent and creativity of over 50 women-led businesses specialising in crafts, DIY, gardening, fashion, fragrances, and more. Visitors could explore a diverse array of products and services while directly supporting female entrepreneurs in their community.

In addition to shopping, visitors immersed themselves in special features and activities. A photo and 360 video zone, lovingly created by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu in collaboration with Niea Studio and Margaret Florist, paid tribute to Mother's Day. Mothers and their children of all ages participated in the Mother's Day photo booth, left heartfelt messages on the Note to Mom message board, and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Additionally, Rotaractors and representatives from Seri Mengasih Centre spread awareness about community services, further enhancing the impact of the event.



PearlEmpower: Grow & Glow Market represents the culmination of months of planning and collaboration. Spearheaded by President Rosie Chong of the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl, alongside Organising Chair, Immediate Past President, Datuk Aminah Ambrose and Co-Organising Chair, Pearl Rotarian Jeniffer Chow, it aims to create an inclusive environment where women and young girls can thrive.
