Sunway Property Signs MOU With Putrajaya Holdings to Develop Land in Putrajaya

Sunway Berhad (Sunway Berhad 5211. KL) would like to announce that its property arm, Sunway Property had formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (“Putrajaya Holdings”) to collaborate on developing prime commercial strategic parcels of land in Precinct 7 and 8, Putrajaya.

Putrajaya Holdings is the master developer of Malaysia’s administrative capital of Putrajaya, one of the largest urban development projects in the country. Putrajaya Holdings has more than 20 signature development projects in Putrajaya comprising office buildings, commercial hubs, and residential projects such as Murraya in Precinct 12, Fera in Precinct 8, Alamanda Shopping Mall in Precinct 1, and more developments.

Sunway Property Managing Director Sarena Cheah, said, "This MOU signifies a major step forward for us to leverage our unique Build-Own-Operate business model to deliver liveability, as well as advances in property development and healthcare in Putrajaya. This partnership represents an opportunity to deliver sustainable and innovative development solutions that will contribute to the growth and progress of the local Putrajaya community.”

The MOU establishes the groundwork for future cooperation between organizations in various sectors such as medical, education, property development, and hospitality for development. The cooperative effort will also explore the development of a medical centre in one of the parcels.

The possible development of a medical center is strategic as Sunway Healthcare Group (SHG) is a leading integrated private healthcare group with a network of hospitals and health services in Malaysia.

Following the success of Sunway Medical Centre in Klang Valley (Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Velocity) and Penang, Seberang Jaya; SHG has continued to expand in Klang Valley (Kota Damansara), Johor (Sunway City Iskandar Puteri), Ipoh (Sunway City Ipoh), Kelantan (Kota Bahru) and Penang (Paya Terubong). This growth will propel SHG to be one of the largest healthcare groups in the region, with a combined capacity of over 3,000 beds throughout SHG’s network of hospitals. The possible addition of a Sunway Medical Centre in Putrajaya, the nation’s administrative capital, will further solidify SHG’s position as a frontrunner in the healthcare industry.

Towards this vision, Sunway will leverage its expertise in developing smart and sustainable integrated townships and developments and combine it with Putrajaya Holdings’ experience in masterplanning to create a vibrant and innovative development utilizing key learnings from its successful developments. To date, Sunway Property has developed more than 5,000 acres of integrated developments across the nation including Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, Sunway City Ipoh, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, and Sunway Velocity.
