SHAREDA President, Datuk Sr Chua Soon Ping, Managing Director of Remajaya Group was among one of the 3 recipients to receive the  “WORLD GREEN  LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AWARD” from the Rt. Hon. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak held on last Monday, 4th September 2023 at UCSI Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.  

This Award was held in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of 2023 WORLD GREEN & SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT with the theme “Building a Better Future Through Green Growth” jointly organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the World Green Organisation (WGO), the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB), the World Business Chamber, The ASEAN Economic Club (AEC), the World Digital Chamber and hosted by the Sarawak Government.  The summit was attended by 300 participants.

During the presentation ceremony, the Rt. Hon. Premier of Sarawak presented the exclusive special Awards for the World Sustainability Leadership Excellence Award to a total of 22 recipients in a few  categories to selected individuals and group of corporates for their excellence and leadership in green intiatives and green development.  The selection criteria includes commitment and proven practice of sustainability, transparency, circular economy and transformation.

About the World Summit, their objectives are: 

• In-line with the United Nation Sustainable Goal 17 – “Partnership for the Goals”, the World Green & Sustainable Summit aspires to advance and promote public-private-people partnership to achieve green growth for a sustainable, inclusive and clean better world.



• The World Green & Sustainable Summit aims to bring together Government, Business, Academia, Think Tank and Civil Society Leaders to move together to achieve solutions towards a Greener Economy.



• The Summit will address strategic issues and key challenges in promoting partnerships for climent action and accelerate the business community’s pivot towards sustainable investment, green finance and green growth.



• It will also promote ESG goals and share success stories of Impactful SDG practices.



• The Summit will uphold the 4Ps – Planet, People, Prosperity and Partnership.

This World Summit held before the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP29) which will convene in November, serves as a meeting of minds to promote interation and exchange of view among key players.  The Summit sessions covered key issues and relevant topics on Greening the World, Green Energy and Green Technologies, Energy Transition, Green Cities and Green Mobility, Sustainable and Green Finance, Green Carbon Markets and Carbon Exchange and ESGs.  

This Summit also showcased Sarawak’s various initiatives in its green transition as well as promote learning and knowledge learning.
