New MIEA President to Be Installed at the 15th National Real Estate Awards Gala Dinner

The Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) today announced that it is set to celebrate the installation of its new President Mr. Tan Kian Aun by outgoing President Ms. Chan Ai Cheng at its 15th edition of MIEA’s National Real Estate Awards (NREA) night.


MIEA, established in 1974, is the largest association representing registered real estate practitioners in the country with over 7,000 members. The primary vision of the new President is to develop communication channels to interact, improve public engagements and help raise the standard of professionalism among its members.



The new President, Mr Tan Kian Aun said "Real estate plays a vital role in Malaysia'seconomy, and we must adapt to the changing times while ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and service towards the society. I am eager to collaborate with our members and all stakeholders to elevate the professionalism and betterment of the practice."



Its outgoing President Ms Chan Ai Cheng whose term ended on 30th June 2023 have seen the growth, recognition and the strengthening and elevation of practice standards among its membership during her tenure.



The NREA, which is set to be held on July 29 at Le Meridien Hotel, will witness 70 award winners including real estate Agents, firms and Real estate Negotiators who will be recognised for their outstanding achievements in 2022. One of the highlights of the event is the recognition of the Lifetime Achievement Award given to an individual who has shown a high degree of passion for the profession, the industry and provided inspiration to us all. Four new award categories have been introduced including residential, commercial and industrial rental deals of the year. Twelve achievers will win the highly respected MIEA Million Dollar Achievers (MMDA) award.



The introduction of these categories underscores MIEAs recognition of the rental markets expanding importance and growing significance in our industry. NREA also stands as a testament to the real estate industry's resilience and sustainability and that real estate agents and negotiators remain crucial facilitators in empowering consumers to buy, sell and rent properties with confidence.



Ms. Ai Cheng said that “It is important for real estate agents and negotiators to consider the fast-paced changes that are taking place globally especially in the areas of ESG and technology. I am happy to say that in 2022, our real estate professionals rose to the occasion, demonstrating extraordinary dedication and tenacity. Their achievements, in many
cases surpassing those of previous years, illustrate the vibrant dynamism of the Malaysian real estate sector."



The NREA, now in its 15th iteration recognizes the outstanding achievements of real estate professionals throughout Malaysia and serves as an inspiration for real estate professionals to continue raising the bar of professionalism, integrity and performance.
