How to Help the Flood Victims in West Malaysia

Malaysia has been stormed with a terrible flood like none before. Malaysia’s Meteorological Department had released a notice warning of continuous heavy downpour in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan. The flood in these areas had caused several roads unable to pass through, leaving some people stranded in their cars.

Although floods commonly occur in the east coast of West Malaysia especially during the monsoon season towards the end of the year, Selangor had experienced unusual rainfall since last Friday leading to a massive flood.

Selangor was reported to have experienced the worst flood among the seven states. It has been reported that the death toll had risen from 8 lives to 34 lives in total had been lost in the flood, 23 in Selangor and 11 in Pahang.

According to the Selangor police, 20 individuals were confirmed to have lost their lives in the floods. The police also stated that the bodies were found in Seksyen 25 Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam which had been the worst-hit area, in Kajang, Sungai Buloh and Klang.

Many across the country have extended a helping hand to the flood victims be it physically or in form of donations.
