MUI Debuts Australian-Inspired Menswear Benjamin Barker at Metrojaya, Mid Valley Megamall

Benjamin Barker, a gentlemen’s outfitter founded in Australia, is now available at Metrojaya, Mid Valley Megamall.

The move by Malayan United Industries Berhad (MUI) to bring in the menswear label into its retail fold is part of the plan to transform a much-loved brand, Metrojaya, into a lifestyle-driven retail player.

As Benjamin Barker is a well-established lifestyle brand known for its high quality classic and vintage-inspired suits, this partnership looks set to appeal to fashion forward gentlemen with discerning taste.

The label, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has been growing steadily, building its foothold in menswear through its suits and shirts that are tailored for the Asian physique. Apart from its fine workmanship, a Benjamin Barker suit is also available in different fabrics and modernised details, all to add a touch of character and personality.

Mr. Andrew Khoo, The MUI Group’s Chairman and CEO said, “Benjamin Barker has always been a go-to favourite label of mine because of its quality workmanship, distinctive lines, and sartorial elegance.

“I believe that the inclusion of the label to Metrojaya’s stable of premium brands will add outstanding value to our customers, investors and stakeholders. We see a lot of potential in the brand and believe that this partnership will be beneficial for both parties. We also hope to grow it internationally in the future.”

Mr. Nelson Yap, Benjamin Barker’s Founder and Managing Director said, “I am thrilled that Benjamin Barker is now in Metrojaya. We believe that our shirts and suits is the right fit for the Malaysian market as the construction and form of our clothes feature Japanese cutting techniques that gives a tailored feel to our Asian gentlemen.

“In fact, our stores in Singapore and in Australia are seen as lifestyle destinations for the discerning gentlemen and we are confident of repeating and even rivalling this in the Malaysian retail landscape.”

The swanky Benjamin Baker outlet in Metrojaya, Mid Valley Megamall, is one of several MUI has planned for the Malaysian market – both as part of the department store and as standalone concept stores in strategic locations.

Benjamin Barker opened its first store in 2009 in Marina Square, Singapore. Ten years on, there are now 15 Benjamin Barker stores globally with presence in Australia, Los Angeles, Singapore and Cambodia.
