Leading Travel Company's First Hotel Makeover in Kota Kinabalu

Southeast Asia's leading online travel company, Traveloka has designed it's first mural in collaboration with Ang's Hotel. Malaysia is the first country Traveloka has launched this initiative.

The mural illustrates a life-sized painting of a young couple at a local beach destination with a plane in the sky, painted over a 64 ft x 44 ft building. It is based on the the 'Follow Me To' series made popular by travel photographer Murad Osmann and designed by renowned local street artist Akid One.

The artist made a name for himself after illustrating Malaysia's greatest national leaders Tun Dr Mahatir Mohammad and Tunku Abdul Rahman on the walls of a pair of shop houses in Alor Setar.

One began painting the mural on March 13 and completed the art piece in 5 days.

"We decided to work with Akid One because his works display really strong local nuances. Through our first Traveloka mural, we want to inspire more people to create memorable moments with their loved ones by continuing to travel.

We hope that the tagline on our mural 'Discover new places with Traveloka' will serve as a reminder for the locals and visitors to expand their horizons and enrich their lives through the wonders of travelling," said Angelica Chan, Traveloka Country Market Manager for Malaysia.

The location of Ang's Hotel is an ideal major tourist spot on Gaya Street in Sabah, making it a perfect photo opportunenity for locals and tourists.

"We are always on the lookout for ways to elevate the look and feel of our hotel. We are thrilled to partner with Traveloka and have Ang's Hotel be the first hotel to sport a Traveloka mural.

"We hope the mural will serve as an attraction spot for visitors to Kota Kinabalu. Although there are not as many murals in Kota Kinabalu as compared to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ipoh, the city does have some giant murals and is soon becoming a popular place to enjoy street art in Malaysia," said Ken Ang, Owner of Ang's Hotel and Chairman of the Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MYBHA), Sabah Chapter.
