Sabah Law Firm Makes Us Proud With 3 Nominations at Upcoming ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2019

As March rolls around the corner, we look forward to Asian Legal Business' (ALB) 6th Malaysia Law Awards 2019 - the most prestigious legal awards in Asia. ALB is the world's leading source of intelligent information, providing businesses and professionals unmatched networking and business development opportunities throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

ALB will be hosting their 6th Law Awards ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur (Diamond Ballroom) on 28 March 2019 at 6:30pm. Nominees will have the chance to win awards from 4 different categories including the Deal Category, Individual Category, In-House Category and Firm Category.

Private practitioners and in-house teams in Malaysia will be celebrated across the region, with Sabah's very own Lim Chung & Zahbia, being one of them.This KK-based law firm, established in 2008, are finalists for 3 of the following awards;

1. Malaysia Banking and Financial Services Law Firm of the Year (Only nominated law firm from East Malaysia)

2. Malaysia Real Estate Law Firm of the Year (Only nominated law firm from East Malaysia)

3. East Malaysia Law Firm of the Year (Only nominated law firm from Sabah)

Lim, Chung & Zahbia is a Sabah-based firm, established in 2008, that focuses on property and real estate, working with a number of Malaysian developers and financial institutions. They emphasize their work not only delivers on speed but also in accuracy, shortening their turnaround time whilst maintaining quality.

So what happens next? A panel of independent judges are now in the process of reviewing and selecting their top three choices for the award categories that they have been assigned to. Scores for each award category will be tabulated and the individual/firm/team with the highest score will be announced as the winner on the day of the event.

The independent judging panel will consist of 25 senior and expert legal-industry leaders and will be selected based on their expertise and knowledge. The panel of judges will derive from various sectors to address the diverse list of award categories.

Among the names on this list are three distinguished judges revealed by ALB. The first name is Premjit Singh, the Group General Counsel of Collectius CMS (M) Sdn Bhd, based in Kuala Lumpur. He is an accomplished professional with considerable experience in legal advisory, negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and cross-border transactional contract work.

Next we have Shell Malaysia's Head of Legal, Rodziah Zainudin who has been in the industry since 1994 and made her mark in Shell through Senior Legal Counsel positions across the globe including Singapore, Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Malaysia. On 1 December 2017, she was appointed the President of Shell Women Action Network, promoting gender balance in Shell Malaysia.

Joining the panel of expert leaders is Lakshimi Priya Thorairaj, Vice President of Group Legal, CIMB Bank Berhad, Malaysia. To the table, Thorairaj brings considerable experience in legal advisory, contract negotiations, corporate and commercial, corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisition, corporate, commercial and consumer banking matters.
