The REKA Interiors Exhibition (RiX 2018) Eyes for Bigger Show

The REKA Interiors Exhibition (RiX 2018) - Malaysia's leading trade exhibition for the design fraternity - returns for its second outing.

As the only design show by designers for designers, RiX 2018 brings together the greatest minds from the fraternities of interior designers, architects, developers, retrofitting specialists, retailers/merchandisers, product designers, buyers, specifiers, traders, dealers and more, from Malaysia and beyond.

Themed ‘Design Infinity, Future Spaces' - a reflection of the concept that interior designers accommodate the needs of future buyers and consumers in designing spaces - the exhibition will feature interior products, furniture and materials from renowned local and international brands, to inspire designers with fresh ideas, and keep them informed of the latest developments in the industry.

RiX will provide a platform for new innovative products, ideas and trends, and act as the door to promote this event at a regional level. It will showcase an array of renowned designers' products and services, coupled with exciting programmes and activities as well as unique installations, providing the perfect rendezvous point for design enthusiasts.

Jointly organised by MIID REKA Sdn Bhd (MRSB), the commercial arm of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), and award-winning exhibitions organiser C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, RiX will be held concurrently with the popular Home Design & Interior Exhibition (HOMEDEC) from 1-4 November 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

RiX 2018 is an event under the Annual REKA Design Week organised by MRSB. Other activities happening throughout this four-day event are the MIID REKA Conference and REKA International Design Award (RIDA), signifying the organisation's commitment in enhancing the national interior design industry, expanding the boundaries of design and enabling the local design fraternity to stay up-to-date with the latest global developments in the industry.

At a Cocktail Reception and Press Conference held today, MIID President Ar. Chris Yap said: "The inaugural RiX last year was a huge success. We saw visitors from various backgrounds, such as interior designers, architects, contractors, builders, designers and homeowners, coming to view the uniquely curated booths. In turn, the exhibitors expressed their delight with the huge interest from the public.”

"Due to overwhelmingly positive responses received last year, we're going bigger for 2018. We have some interesting activities lined up at the Town Hall for interior designers of all ages, and increased the number of booths to accommodate the demand of exhibitors and visitors. We are delighted with our partnership and collaboration with C.I.S, and we look forward to an even more exciting RiX this year, and to bringing the interior design industry to greater heights" he said.

C.I.S President Dato' Vincent Lim shared a similar sentiment: "This strategic collaboration with MRSB is aligned to one of HOMEDEC's principle aims of being at the forefront of growing businesses and the industry alike, for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders. Aside from featuring leading names in the industry, this is also an opportunity to showcase new industry players and upcoming interior design leaders, which is a nod towards recognising and rewarding excellence in the interior design industry.”

Last year's inaugural event saw a total of 2,000 industry visitors, more than half of whom were there to source for new products and technologies and to obtain product and industry updates.

Based on feedback, almost half of the trade visitors had also visited the exhibition with the aim of establishing new distribution channels and agents for the market.

In view of this, this year's RiX will feature a new zone highlighting the Hospitality and Hotelier segment. It will put the spotlight on hotel project specialists and professionals, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and agents.

Another highlight of this year's edition is the ‘Design Installation', which presents a unique journey delving into the heart of creativity through the eyes of designers. Each designer would be given a bare space to display a variety of objects and furniture, using products and materials from RiX exhibitors. A panel of judges would then assess the designs and the most brilliant concept and execution of ideas will win awards. Industry professionals and visitors would get a chance to view these spaces at a dedicated area of the RiX 2018 exhibition.
