DBKK, SLRC Partner Arm in Arm Against Drugs

Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) and the Sabah Land Rover Club (SLRC) have taken up arms in the fight against drugs.

The SLRC and DBKK took the initiative with an anti-drug campaign which they ran in conjunction with the 3rd Borneo 4WD & Outdoor Showcase (BFOS), held on 3rd and 4th June.

The BFOS 2017 was jointly organised by SLRC and DBKK. The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) and the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) focused their aim at promoting eco-tourism and four-wheel-drive-adventure in Sabah. The group also promoted and encouraged anti-drug sentiment especially among the youngsters and rural people.

DBKK has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad (PNMB) to produce DBKK Smart Cards.

Each City Friends member will also automatically become a Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) member, while DBKK Smart Card holders can use public washrooms free of charge and are entitled to utilise City Hall's free bicycle rides without a deposit.

Yeo added that the introduction of the Smart Cards was aimed at encouraging youths to become the driving pulse of a sustainable community, assisting City Hall in making Kota Kinabalu a clean, green and liveable city.

Meanwhile, PNMB managing director Mohamad Abdullah said partnering with City Hall is the commercial printer's first step towards transforming its business model to serve the public at large, and not only for government printing.

Also present at the MoU signing were Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Hajah Jainab Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmad Ayid and Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister cum Minister responsible to City Hall Datuk Ir Edward Yong Oui Fah, together with DBKK director general Datuk Joannes Solidau.
