Johor Sultan Building Luxury Home in Perth

Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar is reportedly building a riverfront home in a suburb in Perth, Western Australia, as reported in The Malay Mail Online.

UK state broadcaster BBC reported that construction began after objections from the local council to the land's acquisition last year for A$8.5 million (RM25.93 million) were resolved.

The parcel is the last undeveloped riverfront block in Perth's exclusive suburb of Dalkeith.

According to another news portal, The Australian, a three-storey house is set to be built on the block with "sweeping verandas facing the Swan River but will be built into the hill - each storey stepping down the sloping site.”

City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins, who initially opposed the sale of the plot due to it carving into the site of the old heritage-listed Sunset hospital that is now being turned into an arts centre, now said he was pleased with the development.

"It's an elegant house that fits in well with its surroundings" he was quoted saying by The Australian.

The Australian reported that Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Idris Shah's connection to the city dates back decades, where they are known to have brought their six children for beach holidays.
