The Sabah Housing And Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) has elected its new president and office bearers for the term 2021 - 2023, effective from April 1st 2021. 

The new members include President, Datuk Chua Soon Ping; Deputy President, Datuk Johnny Wong; Vice President 1, Mr Wesley Chai; Vice President 2, Datuk Quek Siew Hau and Honorary Secretary-General, Mr Benny Ng.

Following the nomination day, the new president, Datuk Chua applauded the association and stated, “I am grateful for the support of my fellow developer comrades at SHAREDA and for giving me the opportunity to lead the industry for the new term. 

My goal for this term is to ensure the revival and sustainability of the real estate industry, which has a profound impact on over 140 related up and downstream businesses. 

As our government relaxes control and encourages life back to normal, we hope to bring back the signature annual property exhibition – PROPEX by SHAREDA. The refreshed version of PROPEX will have a stringent SOP in place and is expected to take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in November 2021. 

Besides this, for the benefit of public knowledge, SHAREDA will host a monthly webinar series to address current issues and engage in an interactive conversation with the public. 

One of my key initiatives in promoting the sustainability of the industry is to build up more talents for the entire chain of the industry. Through SHAREDA, we hope to work with education institutions to provide short part-time courses, teaching practical topics such as property financing and project marketing. The industry can only propel forward with a strong and qualified workforce. 

Finally, we will also work closely with the government to attract more foreign investment, potentially through business migration or an enhanced MM2H program.”

Datuk Chua Soon Ping is also the Group Managing Director of Remajaya Sdn Bhd, who is the developer for Bay 21 as well as the on-going Bay Suites along Likas Bay. During the period of RMCO in 2020, Datuk Chua and his company has been active in producing a series of FB LIVE sessions addressing industry issues, fundraising as well as public education. 

The office bearers for the term 2021 - 2023 will be in effect starting from 1 April 2021.
