DAP Faces Grilling Over Skybridge

Former KK MP and Luyang assemblyman Datuk Dr Hiew King Cheu wants the expected crowded field contesting the Api-Api in the Sept. 26 elections to suggest how they plan to resolve the cordoned off and still unused Skybridge.”
The Skybridge was nearly completed under a previous mayor’s tenure, who, Hiew also blamed for the delay in the construction of the Foh Sang multi-storey carpark despite the previous Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman approving it.
As the Skybridge contractor failed to get the contract payment of nearly RM20million project sum that was to be claimed by the now insolvent developer of the Oceanus Mall with DBKK as the landowner then, the contractor condoned off the 95 per cent completed Skybridge for the past three years.
The DAP promised to find a solution to the fiasco in the 2018 election when DAP party Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng was the Finance Minister for two years plus. With the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan coalition government, the Skybridge limbo is expected to be an issue it would have to answer.
Hiew told Daily Express he intends to contest in one of the constituencies, but would not reveal which one yet. He acknowledged that in current difficult times, it is harder to get support resources from the business community.
The condoned off stairs access.
He claimed the financial allocation for the Foh Sang multi-storey carpark which the DAP Luyang Assemblyman and Youth and Sport Minister Ginger Phoong Jin Zhe took credit for, was approved during BN tenure with the allocation provided for by the Federal Ministry of Local Government and Housing when Sabahan Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan was the minister.
The project was awarded to a company under the control of a LDP leader..
Phoong explained that the company won the project in a tender exercise, when some members of the public questioned the recent fencing off of the Foh Sang Car Park and the installation of the project signage with the name of the contractor.
