Lintas Flyover Is Now Open to Traffic
The opening of the 6km flyover at Jalan Lintas here is hoped to reduce traffic congestion in the area, said Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony.
He thanked the federal government and the Public Works Ministry for the RM300-million allocation for the project, which was approved by the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department in October 2015.
“Although land matters come under the jurisdiction of the state government land, the allocation (for the project) has been approved and we hope approval will also be given for upgrading of Jalan Donggongan and Tambunan,” he told reporters after the flag-off ceremony and opening of the Jalan Penampang Bypass and Persimpangan Lido here yesterday.
Also present was the Works Ministry deputy secretary-general (Policy & Development) Datuk Abdul Razak Jaafar.
Anthony said another road upgrading project under construction is at Jalan UMS, costing RM424 million.
The work is now 31% completed and the project is expected to be ready by 2021, he said, adding that completion of phase one and two of the Lintas Kota Kinabalu road project and Jalan Donggongan-Tambunan would address traffic congestion between Kota Kinabalu and Inanam.
