Water Treatment Plants All Back to Normal, Supply Fully Restored

Water supply to all the affected areas has been fully restored from 6 am on Thursday (July 25), two days ahead of the targeted completion of restoration works following diesel pollution of water sources.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) announced it had fully restored supply to Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat, Petaling, and Klang/Shah Alam.

Syabas, a member of Air Selangor Group, had to shut down operations at Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2 and 3, and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants over the weekend because of raw water pollution.

Air Selangor Customer Relations and Communication Department head Abdul Raof Ahmad called on customers to use water prudently and avoid wastage.

"Concerns and cooperation of all affected parties during the restoration process is much appreciated", it said in a statement.

Air Selangor said it was thankful to the Selangor government, National Water Services Commission (SPAN), government agencies, local authorities, water operators from other states and all those who assisted during the restoration process.
