Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Negeri Sembilan recently held a symbolic aid handover ceremony of RM200,000 to Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, and witnessed by TNB customer care and business development head, Datuk Mohamad Azim Yusof, to build homes for the underprivileged under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) ‘Projek Baiti Jannati (PBJ) Rumahku, Syurgaku’.
In a statement, TNB said that four recipients in the asnaf, single mother and monthly baitulmal beneficiary with self-owned land category who fulfilled the PBJ criteria will receive a home each valued at RM50,000 by August.
“The TNB Negeri Sembilan CSR project was begun in 2008 and has thus far built and handed over 32 homes to state inhabitants. From 2008-2018, the amount totalled RM1.23 million.
“For 2019, the RM200,000 allocation has come from some of TNB’s zakat contribution to the Negeri Sembilan Zakat Management Centre to be used to ease the burden on those of Malay Muslim ancestry who truly need a home,” the statement said.
During the same ceremony, there was also a symbolic handover for the TNB CSR programme ‘Projek Mesra Rakyat’ (PMR) directed at Chinese and Indian locals.
“PMR contributions totalling RM240,000 from 2013 - 2017 were for home repairs to eight homes. In 2018, TNB added on aid to build homes costing RM50,000 each.
"The CSR contribution reflects TNB’s commitment to helping those in need using some of its profit,” said TNB Negeri Sembilan consumer services head, Wan Ishak Soed.
