Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) continue their efforts to develop awareness and nurture a deeper appreciation of Kuala Lumpur's heritage buildings and sites by organizing its annual 'Warisan Kota Kita - PAM Photo Hunt 3.0' this past Sunday (1 March 2019).

Going with 'Patterns & Textures' as the theme for this third edition of the event, PAM encouraged participation from the public to capture the most creative shots of KL's heritage buildings such as the PAM Centre, Rumah Degil, Masjid Jamek, Masjid Negara and Rumah Kutai KAED, IIUM.

A total of 10 teams which consisted of 34 participants took part in PAM's Warisan Kota Kita - Photo Hunt 3.0. They were given a brief at PAM headquarters before the session and were given several questions based on the heritage sites. Participants were required to take pictures to illustrate their answers based on the questions given.

The photo submissions were assessed by a panel of judges which comprised of NSTP Thinking Eyes Manager in Encik Bazuki Muhammad, UiTM M.sc Heritage & Conservation Management Programme Coordinator Dr. Shahrul Yani Said and JKR Senior Architect, Ar. Wan Mohammad Norshah Bin Abdul Satar.

The Winner for a Category of Photography is Team 4, (Ar. Khairil Faizi bin Abdul Majid and Ar. Abdul Malek bin Hj. Hassan) who won RM1,000.00 cash and a hamper, 1st Runner Up from Team 6 (En. Saiful Sahari bin Sapuan Sahari, En. Nasarudin Che Ahmad, Mr. Ian Phoon Jun Yen and En. Raja Mohd Aznul Ezam) won RM 750.00 cash and a hamper.

The 2nd Runner Up from Team 7 (En. Arif Faris bin Asruddin and En. Muhammad Taufiq bin Abdul Rashid) bagged RM 500.00 cash and a hamper. Best Photo Category won by Team 1 (En. Norizam bin Ayob, En. Mohammad Azhan Zahini bin Arifin, En. Kamarul Anuar bin Mohamad Kamar and Cik Nur As Sa'adah binti Abdullah @ Mahmud) won RM 250.00 cash.

"The annual photo hunt is a good platform for PAM to encourage creativity in architectural photography and also to instil a sense of pride and appreciation of our heritage buildings among Malaysians. By creating awareness on these buildings, we will be able to educate them on the importance of preserving our heritage, identity and culture." said PAM Chairman of Heritage Conservation Committee, Dato' Ar. Hj. Zulkhairi bin Md Zain during the opening speech.

Since its inception in 2017, Warisan Kota Kita - Photo Hunt has attracted participants from Klang Valley and surrounding areas. To date, the initiative has captured many images of heritage buildings and sites such as Kg. Bharu, Batu Caves, KL Railway Station, the old Victoria Institute High School and more.
