HOMEDEC Unveils Future Home Inspirations

The Home Design and Interior Exhibition (HOMEDEC) Part 1 has come to an end last 25 - 28 October and HOMEDEC Part 2 returns with eight more halls for products and services related to furnishing and decorating ideas, as well as interior styles from 1 - 4 November 2018 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

HOMEDEC, organised by award-winning exhibitions organiser C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd (C.I.S), is held concurrently with the REKA Interiors Exhibition (RiX) — jointly organised by MIID REKA Sdn Bhd (MRSB), the commercial arm of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), and C.I.S. HOMEDEC Part 2 continues to inspire both visitors and designers with trendy designs, innovative ideas and the latest concepts in home décor from floor to ceiling, and everywhere in between.

During the Opening Ceremony of HOMEDEC KL this morning, Dato' Vincent Lim, C.I.S President, said: "This strategic collaboration with MRSB is aligned with one of HOMEDEC's principle aims of being at the forefront of growing businesses and the industry alike, for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders."

In recognising the synergy of both exhibitions, he continued: "RiX is where design meets business as revolutionary ideas and concepts come to life. Aligning with the purpose and objectives of HOMEDEC to provide all-in-one renovation and home design needs, homeowners can now look forward to be inspired by the creative expressions at RiX while designers can work on the crucial aspect of featuring their designs and projects in the best possible manner to businesses."

Visitors to the exhibitions this week can expect to see how HOMEDEC and RiX spark design inspiration in homeowners and designers alike as both exhibitions present their own headlining attractions.

The HOMEDEC Showhome puts the spotlight on 'New-Gen Home' and studio living, featuring modern spaces catered to compact living for the new generation. Focused around the lifestyle of Millennials and Gen Z's, the two showhomes — collectively named M-Quarters — aim to inspire and encourage visitors to use their imagination and creativity to search for unconventional solutions when living in small studios and micro apartments.

The two showhomes feature modern spaces catered to basic yet functional open concepts with a touch of ingenuity and arts featuring spaces with fluid designs that can be transformed with movable structures for momentary needs.

Reflecting the trend of people moving towards a greener environment, designers of MQuarters — Patrick Chin and Mike Saw of Pride Studio — styled their homes together with Plant Specialist Ronnie Khoo so visitors can envision how displays of nature are introduced in these feature showhomes.

Amidst Best Deal Campaigns and Contests where all home solutions can be found under one roof, HOMEDEC is also on the forefront to recognise the uprising of digital trends of mobile and cashless shopping.

Leading both the consumer and trade show, Dato' Vincent Lim added: "With our strategic collaboration with MRSB, we hope to elevate the interior design industry in Malaysia and bridge the gap between homeowners, businesses and exhibitors by bringing together the leading voices of the interior design industry."

RiX will present an exhibition of the finest for interior designers to source latest products and services alongside an array of networking sessions through the REKA Conference; networking parties; the RIDA Awards; talks by industry experts, in the Japanese power speaker presentation style of Pecha Kucha; industry dialogues sharing hot topics via Teh Tarik Sessions; and the Young Designers' Workshop.

One of the highlights of this year's RiX, is the inaugural Design Installation. It will showcase nine masterpieces by nine renowned and influential designers where each presentation is an exclusive mastery on its own. In this pairing of each designer to the nine exhibitors, visitors can see how the designs will utilise selected materials from the selected exhibitors to demonstrate an ingenious way to create a masterpiece artwork.

To inspire designers with fresh ideas, this unique demonstration that harnesses pure creativity and imagination is set to mesmerise its viewers and put a spotlight on the designers' creations whilst the influence on design of the installations is set to enhance, renew and breathe new life into the most intimate spaces, shaping thoughts and emotions that will inspire and challenge anyone.

Other activities happening throughout this four-day event are the MIID REKA Conference and REKA International Design Award (RIDA), signifying the organisation's commitment in enhancing the national interior design industry, expanding the boundaries of design and enabling the local design fraternity to stay up-to-date with the latest global developments in the industry.

Both HOMEDEC KL Part 2 and RiX 2018 will happen from: 1 - 4 November 2018 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
