HOMEDEC KL to Be Held Over Two Consecutive Weekends!

Home Design and Interior Exhibition (HOMEDEC) is set to bring the latest home décor trends to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in two parts over two consecutive weekends — Part 1: Design & Renovate, from 25—28 October 2018, and Part 2: Furnish & Decorate, from 1—4 November 2018.

With two parts, visitors can expect to up their game in improving the aesthetics and enhancements of their home as the aptly themed 'Fashion for Your Home' represents an identity where every impression counts. This edition of the popular exhibition by award-winning exhibitions organiser C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd (C.I.S) promises to provide visitors with trendy designs, innovative ideas and the latest concepts in home décor from the floor to ceiling and everywhere in between. HOMEDEC Part 1 highlights design and renovation ideas for the home with a special feature on Home Safety and Security under HOMEDEC Inspires, a notable initiative by C.I.S.

C.I.S President Dato' Vincent said, "Home Safety and Security is paramount to every homeowner and should never be ignored. The home is where we live and build our families, so keeping the property safe is an absolute top priority."

"People often think home safety and security is all about burglar-proofing your home with the latest technology and devices. We want to showcase more by incorporating easy-to-remember elements that every homeowner should consider when fashioning their homes," he added.

HOMEDEC Part 2, which features home furnishing and decoration, continues to inspire visitors with its highly popular HOMEDEC Showhome. A signature showcase of HOMEDEC, this year's theme focuses on 'New-Gen Home' and studio living.

Recognising that compact living is quickly becoming a trend as real estate prices continue to soar, Dato' Vincent Lim explained that the New-Gen Home aims to inspire and encourage visitors of such spaces to use their imagination and creativity to search for unconventional solutions when living in small studios and micro apartments.

Two showhomes, collectively named M-Quarters, are targeted at millennials and the Gen Z's. M- Quarters feature modern spaces catered to basic yet functional open concepts with a touch of ingenuity and arts featuring spaces with fluid designs that can be transformed with movable structures for momentary needs.

As the trend is also moving towards a greener environment, designers of M-Quarters — Patrick Chin and Mike Saw of Pride Studio — styled their homes together with Plant Specialist Ronnie Khoo so visitors can envision how displays of nature are introduced in these feature Showhomes.

In recognising the digital trends of mobile and cashless shopping particularly amongst the millennials and Gen Z's, Part 2 of the exhibition will feature unmanned cashless pop-up stores by HOMEDECshop displaying exclusively handpicked design-driven home products from the mobile app so visitors can shop through the convenience of their phone and have it delivered to their home.

Adding to this Dato' Vincent Lim said, "These pop-up stores are also a special initiative as we wanted to open an avenue to support budding interior and product designers to break into the market with their exhibits, while providing homeowners an online home décor shopping platform and contact sourcing point for trusted interior designers and professionals alike for their renovation needs."

Part 2 of the HOMEDEC exhibition will also continue to engage the interior design industry through the second REKA Interiors Exhibition (RiX), which will be held concurrently. RiX is Malaysia's first curated interior design exhibition jointly organised by MIID REKA Sdn Bhd (MRSB), the commercial arm of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), and C.I.S. RiX will present an exhibition of the finest for interior designers to source latest products and services and an array of networking sessions through the REKA Conference; networking parties; the RIDA Awards and talks featuring fast-paced and concise Japanese power speaker presentation — Pecha Kucha from industry experts; industry dialogues sharing hot topics — Teh Tarik Sessions; and the Young Designers' Workshop.

To inspire designers with fresh ideas, RiX presents the highlight of nine masterpiece design installations, where nine renowned local and international designers have paired up with nine exhibitors to utilise their products and create a concept showcase within a designated area.
