Pan Borneo Highway Construction in S'wak to Continue, Assures State PH Chairman

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen has assured that the construction of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak will not be delayed, adding that it was only the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah which will be delayed.

Chong, who is also Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) deputy minister, said checks with the Prime Minister's Office and the contractors involved in the project have confirmed that works are still ongoing in Sarawak as usual.

"As far as Sarawak is concerned, the Pan Borneo project will continue," he told a press conference held at the Kuching International Airport VVIP terminal today.

"In fact, a few contractors that I have called up are at the moment on site doing the construction," he said.

He also provided insight into the fact that some reviews for the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak would be made. Substantial unnecessary costs and the leakages of funds should be eliminated and the extra funds from the project can then be diverted to other development projects in Sarawak for the people's benefit.
