Sarawak Architect Firm Awarded With Best QLASSIC Achievement Awards 2018

Adding to a long list of achievements, Sarawakian firm Arkitek KDI Sdn Bhd (Arkitek KDI) has won the Best QLASSIC Achievement Awards 2018 - Residential with a project value exceeding RM100 million in a ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The event was held in conjunction with QLASSIC Day 2018 and officiated by the Minister of Works Baru Bian. The award was in recognition of having met the standard of Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) for their recent project - GM Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Initiated by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, the QLASSIC system functions as an evaluation process that factors in the quality of workmanship of building projects, through a scoring system that's based on Construction Industry Standard (CIS 7).

The purpose of this system is to effectively foster mutual benefits among all parties in the industry, including the contractor garnering public trust from their quality workmanship and the improved marketability of end-products by developers which translates to the satisfaction of end-users.

"Being honoured for this QLASSIC award is a great recognition for our emphasis in not only quality building design, but also our efforts as the architect in the implementation of the project to ensure the delivery of quality workmanship in protecting the interests of purchasers," said Datuk Sri John Lau Kah Sieng, who received this award together with the developer of GM Bukit Bintang, Idaman Robertson Sdn Bhd, as well as the building works contractor, Lim Hoo Seng Construction Sdn Bhd.
