KSK Land Teams Up With Kenny Loh to Co-Curate Confluential Photography Exhibition

In this day and age when images are easily captured and shared on mobile devices, physical photography exhibitions are still an important and relevant platform to draw people closer to the arts through powerful images.

KSK Land Sdn Bhd (KSK Land), developer of 8 Conlay, has teamed up with award-winning Malaysian photographer, Kenny Loh, to co-curate a photography exhibition themed, "Confluential - A Photo Essay of Kuala Lumpur” that takes people on a journey to rediscover the Kuala Lumpur way of life and its growth journey.

The exhibition will be held from 17 August to 16 September 2018 at the luxurious 8 Conlay sales gallery, Bangunan KSK, 32, Jalan Yap Ah Shak, Kuala Lumpur, from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily. It will exhibit a total 26 images, captured through the lens of Kenny Loh, depicting life stories from diverse individuals living, working and playing in Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition features stunning images from Loh's latest photography book project, the third book of the "Born in Malaysia” series, called "A Story Of Kuala Lumpur” that will debut in October this year. It will also showcase photographs from his first photography book called "Born in Malaysia - A Photographer's Journey” which debuted in 2013.

Speaking at the launch of the photography exhibition, KSK Group Berhad CEO and KSK Land Managing Director, Joanne Kua said, "This is the second year KSK Land is organising the ‘Confluential' exhibition. Our aim is to remind ourselves who we are as Malaysians and how unique our country is as we celebrate the 61st Merdeka Day and 55th Malaysia Day. As the adage does, "A picture is a poem without words”, this year, we decided to team up with Kenny Loh to co-curate a photography exhibition to tell the stories of the peoples of Kuala Lumpur. Our goal with this exhibition is to allow a wider audience to reconnect with the history and rich cultures of Kuala Lumpur - both past and present.”

As a lifestyle developer, KSK Land will be introducing a new lifestyle concept to Malaysia. As reflected in its "Your Place, Your Story” tagline, 8 Conlay will curate living spaces that allow people to tell their own stories, creating their own unique memories. Towards this end, the developer is collaborating with Kempinski Hotels, Europe's oldest luxury hotelier with a 121-year rich heritage, to conceive ‘Confluential' which represents a marriage of confluence, confidence and influential.

"The ‘Confluential' photography exhibition is definitely an extension of KSK and Kempinski's brands, to enable residents to embrace luxury through different life experiences, comprising arts, travel, design and bespoke services. The photographs exhibited are artistic and emotive, and it is our hope that the exhibition serves as a space where stories are shared and luxury is inspired" Kua added.

For Loh, who came back to Malaysia in 2010 after working abroad for 20 years, photography presents a way to ignite unity through images. Through photography, Loh aspires to document life stories and capture the diverse beauty of Malaysia. "By photographing the interesting personalities sharing their fondest memories or life stories, it teaches us the importance of diversity and how it has shaped the growth journey of Kuala Lumpur city and Malaysia" Loh explained.

8 Conlay, KSK Land's maiden development with a Gross Development Value of RM 5.4billion, comprises two branded residence towers called YOO8 serviced by Kempinski, the five-star Kempinski Hotel Kuala Lumpur and residences, and an innovative lifestyle retail quarter strategically located in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur city centre. Kempinski will manage the hospitality for both branded residence towers, as well as operate and manage the hotel tower.

Due for completion in 2020, 8 Conlay boasts the first and only Kempinski Hotel in Malaysia as well as the first branded residence development in Southeast Asia to feature designs by two of the world's most celebrated designers, Steve Leung & YOO (for Tower A) and Kelly Hoppen for YOO (Tower B).
