Govt Scraps MRT 3 Project

PUTRAJAYA: The Government has decided to scrap the MRT 3 rail transit project for now, says Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as reported by The Star.

Speaking at a press conference after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Dr Mahathir noted that Pakatan Harapan is reviewing all projects after taking over Putrajaya.

The MRT 3 or MRT Circle Line, initiated by the administration of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, was meant to be the 13th rail transit line.

The fully automated and driverless rail system, once implemented, was to form the loop line of the Greater KL/Klang Valley Integrated Transit System.

It was meant to cover hotspots surrounding Bandar Malaysia, Ampang, KL Ecocity, Bukit Kiara and Sentul.

It was targeted for completion by 2025.
