Centre for the Blind's Wallace Protection Workshop requires RM2.9 million to build 72 housing units to accommodate more trainers.

President of the Blind Organisation, Datuk Rosalind Chew said the centre could only accommodate 127 trainees with their families.

"We are travelling to districts such as Nabawan, Semporna, Pulau Banggi and other locations to identify, register and bring this group to the shelter.

"However, due to the lack of shelter and basic facilities, we cannot bring them here".

"We hope more private companies and related agencies will be able to help us build the 72 residential units," he said after the iM4U Programme Closing Ceremony - Jellyfish Cultivation organised by the Suri Association and Public Service Member of Malaysia (Puspanita) Sabah Branch on Saturday, 30th September.

Rosalind also encouraged the people to follow iM4U's footprint through Puspanita to provide assistance to the centre.

"We are honoured that this is the third cooperation with Puspanita to plant coconut trees in 2015, organic bananas and vegetables in 2016 and yam this year.

"The plants will be marketed to the local community to generate revenues, besides receiving RM200,000 from the government through the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs.

"The allocation is for the purpose of training and organising awareness programmes for those who have yet to be registered and those who have no skills yet," she explained.

"We are planning to open commercial massage centre at the Wallace Protective Workshop by early next year.," she said.
