Bumiputera Urged to Make All-Out Efforts in Business

Bumiputera businessmen must be committed, focused and serious in their work in order to succeed.

Making the call, Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said that they must also have confidence and they could be successful just like other businessmen from other communities.

"We must have discipline, know how to manage our finances" he said at a breaking of fast hosted jointly by Perdasama (Sabah), Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) and Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (MCCM) Sabah branch at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort here on Wednesday.

Citing Sedafiat Sdn Bhd's success in providing hospital facility support services in the state, Musa who is also Finance Minister, said Bumiputera companies were also capable providing such services.

Apart from high-quality services, he said that Sedafiat was also providing employment to some 2,600 locals.

"This is what we want, we want more Bumiputeras to become successful in business and create job opportunities. "There are many business opportunities out there including in oil and gas sector" he said.

And, according to the Chief Minister, the government has always been business-friendly. Musa added that he encouraged Bumiputera entrepreneurs and contractors to participate in the Pan Borneo Highway project.

Also present were Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun; Assistant Finance Minister, Datuk Ramlee Marahaban who is also Perdasama chairman; SBCC Chairman, Datuk Hasnol Ayub, MCCM Sabah chief, Datuk Ag Buhtamam Ag Mahmun; State Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar; and City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai.
